The latest Honest Trailer mocks Tom Holland's Uncharted for being an unfaithful video game adaptation. Uncharted is based on Sony's game franchise of the same name, which kicked off in 2007, putting players in the shoes of globetrotting treasure hunter Nathan Drake. The film adaptation was stuck in development for years before finally getting the green light with Venom's Ruben Fleischer at the helm. Uncharted stars Holland as Drake.
Screen Junkies shared the Uncharted Honest Trailer on YouTube, which doesn't pull any punches as it immediately compares the similarities in cast dynamics to Red Notice and Jungle Cruise. As the narrator explains that the film plucks memorable moments from the games, highlighting the cargo plane sequence, he then calls the rest of the movie a scrambled, bland cinematic paste.
When it comes to mocking Uncharted, nothing was off-limits. As the trailer jokes, "When you put Boston and a crucifix in your script, you summon Mark Wahlberg." With the inspiration drawn from the Indiana Jones franchise and games like Tomb Raider, Uncharted finds itself dubbed "Tom Raider." Joking aside, Uncharted made over $395 million at the worldwide box office, with Sony already calling it a potential franchise.
Took you this long to figure that out?
