SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS What are the best- and worst-case scenarios in China promising to buy more U.S. farm products? Join the conversation below. Analysts say China could attach conditions to a written pact that would allow it to buy less than the U.S. expects, such as by stretching out the time frame for purchases. China could also insist on language saying that prices for U.S. goods must be reasonable and that Chinese purchases comply with the rules of the World Trade Organization, which bans managed trade.
Chinese negotiators led by Vice Premier Liu He argue that the U.S., by asking Chinese firms to buy more than they need, is forcing Beijing to direct state-owned enterprises, such as Cofco Corp., to buy. Such a demand essentially amounts to asking Beijing to engage in managed trade, Chinese officials say, a practice many in Washington have assailed as part of China’s state-led economic model.

Art of the deal😂😂😂
To the Chinese, promises are made to be broken. Has the world not learned their deception over the years? WTO membership requirements, HK's 1 Country, 2 Systems, trade agreements reached with the US recently......
Wake up and don't be silly to trust China 's words.
No...one more time...TRUMP'S CLAIM that China is going to buy more. When the media can actually comprehend this problem, perhaps the public can be informed more effectively.
Tell China they can buy the old moldy stuff for 10% discount.
Thanks, Donnie. Just another major problem he caused. Just another day.
China gives Trump money for 'farm Supplies', so Trump will lower the Tariffs? Is there an oversight committee that will make sure ALL of Chinas money goes to that equipment(not at inflated prices), and that the 'money' won't go right to Trumps campaign?
It’s true. Cannot trust them to with perishable goods they can walk away from at any time. They are waiting until it will hurt Trump the most.
This tweet seems like pretty big exaggeration when you compare it to the article. But you did get me to read the article so well done.
The U.S need to crush CCP first then think about a deal. They won’t honor any deals anyway based on their 30 years of track records, and they are at our doorsteps which is really a national security threat!
History will repeat itself like WTO. A deal with an untrustworthy unreliable inhumane totalitarian regime is just another illusory daydreaming-Too-Goo-To-Be-True bubble. As far as proven poor record of CCP they have never kept to their promise simply becoz they can’t be bothered.
China is doing the usual crabbing. The big takeaway is the trade minister got nothing for the food promise. There is tension inside Beijing over how long their supplies will last. Did the minister exceed his authority?
Chinese Business 101: spend 50B on American soybeans and then steal 500B of state of the art American technology. That's Silicon Valley math baby!
And... they thought right. They're the main voting block he needs to win the midwest.
And Beijing will get the concessions.
