The human rights and fundamental freedoms of all Afghan citizens, especially women, girls and members of minority groups, must be respected," US Ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield told the council. Guterres also said that the international community must come together to ensure that Afghanistan is not used to stage terrorist attacks by other groups.

Afghan president was isolated before slipping into exilePresident Ghani quietly left the sprawling presidential palace with a small coterie of confidants — and didn’t even tell other political leaders who had been negotiating a peaceful transition of power with the Taliban that he was heading for the exit. And I suppose he's going to set up a government in exile, live in luxury, accept billions of dollars in support, while his country is overrun by terrorist who will now plunge the rest of the world into terror.
