Russian forces meet resistance in Ukrainian citiesLengthy queues at ATMs and gas stationsKYIV, Feb 26 - Ukrainian forces are putting up "very determined resistance" to Russia's invasion, a U.S. defence official said on Saturday, as President Volodymyr Zelenskiy struck a defiant tone on the streets of the capital Kyiv.
The United States has observed more than 250 launches of Russian missiles, mostly short-range, at Ukrainian targets, the U.S. defence official said. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, who has fostered good ties with Russia and Ukraine, told Zelenskiy by phone on Saturday that Ankara was making efforts for an immediate ceasefire.Kyiv's mayor Vitali Klitschko said there was currently no major Russian military presence in the capital, but that saboteur groups were active. NATO Since joining NATO is a 20 year process, isn’t there a stipulation that provides protection for a country that has adopted a constitutional amendment committing itself to NATO membership?… i.e. Ukraine in 2017. If not, there should be. 🤬 They deserve NATO protection.
