UK Treasury chief Javid has resigned in a shock move on the day Prime Minister Johnson is reshuffling his Conservative government. His resignation shakes the cabinet as it faces the struggle of negotiating a new relationship with the EU by year's end.

British lawmaker Sajid Javid Chancellor of the Exchequer walks along Downing Street in London, Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson shook up his government on Thursday, firing and appointing ministers to key Cabinet posts. Johnson was aiming to tighten his grip on government after winning a big parliamentary majority in December's election. That victory allowed Johnson to take Britain out of the European Union in January.

The government announced that he would be replaced by Rishi Sunak, who was previously a deputy to Javid at the Treasury. Britain’s Press Association news agency reported that Javid had quit after being told to fire all his aides and replace them with staff appointed by the prime minister’s office. Now his Conservative administration faces the even bigger challenge of negotiating a new trading relationship with the EU while also seeking trade deals with the United States and other countries.

What a puss.

Dun dun dee dee

The best hope for opponents to this government is that it falls apart. Large majorities tend to breed party indiscipline and the desire to exert control, especially in Cabinet, prompts pushback from senior ministers cf Javid.

Huh, resignations in protest is still a thing in the UK? Happens here to no effect and it gets spun as a firing. Replacements are sycophants so our Dear Leader loves them.

Boris, less First Minister and more First Clown, lazy and unfit as they always said.

what a load of rubbish

A bridge too far? UK looks at linking Scotland, Northern IrelandThe British government said Monday it is seriously studying the feasibility of a bridge between Scotland and Northern Ireland. A very expensive attempt to keep Scotland in uk. Very expensive jingoism. It’s not the craziest idea. There is a 20 mile bridge in Louisiana, but obviously not water that deep. What about a tunnel like the one to France? Another HS2 like project in the making
