LONDON - Britain’s constitution offers no clear answer to the question now on many Britons’ minds: what happens if Prime Minister Boris Johnson, undergoing tests in hospital after persistent symptoms of coronavirus, cannot continue to lead.
But the fact that two such crucial leaders in the UK’s fight against the pandemic have contracted the disease has raised questions about how the government would function without them at a time of global crisis. Downing Street has already said, however, that Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab would deputise if necessary.
More recently, Tony Blair twice underwent treatment for a heart condition while prime minister in the early 2000s, each time briefly cutting back on his workload for a couple of days.

miholden kyliemaclellan Statement is correct. I wish the PM a speedy recovery as a fellow citizen. He can’t perform his role whilst in hospital. He’s suffering from Covid19. I understand that Raab is the nominated individual. This has to be done asap. We have ScotGovFM thank goodness.

miholden kyliemaclellan I think this is in such bad taste to put out a statement like this! He is not well and instead of speculating about his future leadership, people should keep quiet and rather wish him a speedy recovery.
