Britain has not yet reached the COVID-19 peak which would allow for an easing of tight restrictions of movement, health minister Matt Hancock said on Saturday.

Britain imposed a lockdown three weeks ago in a bid to curb the spread of the virus and the government has come under increasing pressure to detail how long the strict measures on movements would last, with people forced to stay at home and many businesses unable to operate. Some scientists have suggested the peak might still be some weeks off but Hancock said “nobody knows” when it would be.

Initially Johnson took a more modest response to the outbreak than other European leaders but changed tack when projections suggested a quarter of a million people could die in the United Kingdom. The British Medical Association, which represents doctors, said medics were facing a “heart-breaking” decision over whether to treat patients without proper protection and so put themselves at risk.

The pandemic has proved that the most striking evidence-based distinguishing feature of having a mess in a country is that people sew their own face masks.

What's really scary is that the Minister for Health has ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what he's doing & doesn't understand simple science! Hancock you are a prize winner 🐓! You are just making this worse than it had to be! You are a DISGRACE!!!

It's a lockdown for people who try to keep to the rules & help the NHS & not a lockdown for others who break the law & flaunt it in our faces. It is not fair. People should be held accountable & punished for breaking the law otherwise those who abide by the law become the losers.

What a surprise.

Right decision.

Peak means you are half way.. Who would be so idiotic to start loosening the reins then..

COVID19 lockdown must stay in place until the virus threat subsides and only eased when the numbers come down and we have a potential vaccine in place.

Sounds like their leaders value human life

I think you meant 'peek' not 'peak'.

Now the whole UK must recognize that it was right to prevent the mass entry of immigrants, if it had allowed it, it would be an extra portion of people that it would be necessary to worry about isolating to reduce the possibility of contagion of Covid19

Can't British cunning tricks take over covid19?🤪

The cure can't be worse than the problem. US should sacrifice its ppl's life to save their economy rather than follow China's advice to continue the lockdown.

Great welcome saved people of UK. I will pray to the God.

Conservative voters will be setting fire to their homes lighting disposable barbecues and getting drunk indoors though

The UK is so cuked

Under the circumstances, probably the better decision
