Uchiko in Plano has a hearth, and the restaurant will put a focus on grilled and charred meats in addition to the restaurant's existing menu of raw fish. Pictured here: the Rosewood coulotte.
The restaurant might become a stand-in for those who don’t want to drive south on the Dallas North Tollway to Uchi in Uptown Dallas. Uchiko means “the child of Uchi” in Japanese, and it certainly has some of the same DNA, but it isn’t kiddish. Some of the staples made the Uchiko menu, like the aforementioned Hama Chili, as well as the Yokai Berry, a cold salmon dish with kale, pear and yuzu.
Uchiko in Plano will have a full bar, whereas the Uchi in Dallas serves beer and wine only. Beverage director Jason Kosmas' cocktail list includes the Pink Dragon, made with Ketel One vodka, green tea, dragon fruit and coconut.A select number of dishes will be larger, too, like the shareable short rib or the whole branzino. And, this menu has caviar.
