WASHINGTON - Uber Technologies Inc’s autonomous test vehicles were involved in 37 crashes in the 18 months before a fatal March 2018 self-driving car accident, the National Transportation Safety Board said on Tuesday.

In one incident, the test vehicle struck a bent bicycle lane bollard that partially occupied the test vehicle’s lane of travel. In another incident, the operator took control to avoid a rapidly approaching oncoming vehicle that entered its lane of travel. The vehicle operator steered away and struck a parked car. The NTSB will hold a probable cause hearing on the crash Nov. 19.

The NTSB said previously Uber had disabled an emergency braking system in the modified Volvo test vehicle.

LAX's new system for Uber, Lyft and taxi pickups is plagued with long waitsOn Sunday night it took more than an hour for taxis to drive to the LAX rideshare pickup lot from a waiting zone that's about a five-minute walk away. This is nuts. I mean, at least keep the cabs at the airport! I actually parked at one of those lots this time instead of trusting that I could get home from the airport. Wish I lived closer to John Wayne. Solve a problem by making a bigger one. Sounds like something LAX usually does It’s a NIGHTMARE!! Was hugely disappointed!! Perspective, is EVERYTHING too...I get that!! No Kidney in Coolers at this debacle! Plan on LONG lines! Hopefully, garyvee & TeamGaryVee has already come up with an Alternative Approach!! goodvibesonly✌️
