Karen Baker, chief executive officer of the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, praised the ride-hailing service for making the results public, saying she wasn’t aware of any other company voluntarily releasing such unflattering information about itself.
Stephanie Nam, of Brooklyn, N.Y., said at the end of a ride in July 2017 her Uber driver opened her door and jumped into the back seat with her."He said, ‘I just need two minutes with you, baby,’" Nam said. The report says more than a million prospective drivers failed to make it through Uber’s screening process during 2017 and 2018. The report also notes that Uber banned more than 40,000 U.S. drivers in the last two years as a result of ongoing criminal and motor vehicle screenings.Uber said it plans to, for the first time, share those names with other ride-hailing companies, including Lyft.
"Uber shouldn’t make that choice for survivors," he added."Survivors should make that choice for themselves."

Uber panic.
Don’t do Uber!
Who knew Matt Lauer took that many uber's?
uber wants to claim no liability as a platform but that's a false concept as independent contractors would be able to set their own prices. Uber sets the rate and pays drivers what is essentially a commission. Drivers are employees NOT contractors.
Be careful of taking Uber pool ladies. Drivers get background checked, your fellow riders don’t: Drivers aren’t always the alleged attackers, according to the report. The company said riders were the accused party in 45 percent of the reports filed.
Sorry to hear that ☹️
TheSoulCab Don’t let Uber gaslights you by projecting the release of this data as a kind of victory for transparency. Uber is a huge part of the problem, and mainly responsible for this epidemic of sexual assault in rideshare.
Sexual assault is never okay but I’m curious as to the percentage of sexual assault numbers for taxi 🚖 rides.
And then a supports the use of taxis over uber drivers... I would rather pay more $$ than be sexually assaulted?
