As the United Auto Workers union strike against General Motors reached the end of its fourth week, the union moved to raise the level of financial support for nearly 50,000 GM workers who walked off the job

The union has been paying $250 a week in strike benefits since for three weeks. It announced Sunday it was raising the benefit to $275 a week. And for strikers at GM and Aramark, an outside contractor providing maintenance services at GM plants whose hourly employees are also striking members of the UAW, the union lifted a cap on the money they could earn from outside jobs and still get the full benefit.

GM dealers, who are independent businesses, have continued to sell GM cars and trucks, working through a larger than normal inventory that GM produced in anticipation of a possible strike. For most auto dealers though, new car sales are the least profitable part of their business, with service and used car sales producing the greatest level of profit.GM tells workers it's time for the strike to endThe UAW started a strike against a second company in the sector at 12:01 a.m. Sunday.

I would love to see some of the world's best economists on a stage with various industries' workers asking these questions; and members of Congress answering them, too

It is amazing how most people think they are underpaid for what THEY do for a living. What about the nannies raising other people's kids for them? What about the postal worker? The fast-food restaurant worker behind the counter?

How much should a firefighter make per year? A police officer? A public school teacher. A diswasher at a restaurant? A janitor at a commercial business? A doorman/concierge at a residential property? An electrician? An attorney? A registered nurse?

The tough question NO ONE wants to answer honestly. How much should a worker be paid in the job they have? ANY worker, ANY industry, ANY State. I'd love to see a live debate on this ONE topic.

Wow a union actually giving money back to their members. UAW leaders you may want accept the latest offer cause the media isn’t caring much about your strike

so why aren't they protesting outside Dem's Houses since they could help by passing the USMCA!! Because the UAW leadership doesn't want it!!

Just another reason to increase the amount of automated machines in their place

realDonaldTrump how are you helping the UAW workers

With the union dues they take off workers pays, you would think that they wouldn’t need to RAISE it... they SHOULD already have it to give to their membership. If they don’t, then who does?

UAW Increases Strike Pay for GM Factory WorkersThe UAW said GM workers on the picket line will see weekly strike pay increase to $275 from $250, a sign the union is preparing to extend a nearly monthlong walkout. Hey GM, need any Scabs? I'd be happy to come out just so you can fire a few Union crybabies. Wonder what would happen if GM shut down and all those workers didn’t have jobs anymore? I guess I’d keep buying Fords. Wouldn’t it be great if GM just moved all production to right to work stages? I can sympathize with the workers a bit, but there is no love lost for the bullies at the UAW.
