U.S. Voters Support Expanding Medicare but Not Eliminating Private Health Insurance

Democratic presidential candidates are presenting policy ideas that are broadly popular with Americans, including tuition-free state colleges, but other proposals—such as Medicare for All—could complicate the party’s prospects next year, the latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll shows.

Democrats are always enthusiastically in favor of other things people will have to pay for.

Maybe if the explained the plan laid out by BernieSanders and wrote a true article about the cost savings and benefits, then people wouldn't have misconceptions about it. There is zero downside to eliminating private medical insurance. BernieSanders2020 MedicareForAll

If you want to create a system run by the government but fully funded by willing participants, have at it. And good luck with that. But leave me out of it. But that would never happen because everyone thinks they will get free stuff. That only happens when you rob people.

Younger people love free anything. They would also rather have high priced apartment or car than pay for health insurance. After all, they are immortal.

Depends on how you frame Medicare for all if dems like Warren run on putting 2 million American workers out of business they will lose. If they talk about giving healthcare to the 23 million uninsured Americans today they will win. Seems very straight forward.

Medicare allows recipients to pay for private insurance contracted through medicare, deducted from Social Security, some of which was free under Obama, but costs between $135 to $385 monthly. Many companies offer medical, dental, eyes, hearing, lower copays, medicare paying part.

Why does the media always feel compelled to present this as an either/or proposition? Medicare for everyone for necessary, life-saving and preventative care (cancer, heart, vaxx, mammo, etc). Private for frills over and above (plastic surgery, lasik, liposuction, veneers, etc.)
