WASHINGTON - U.S. states filed a lawsuit accusing Teva Pharmaceuticals USA Inc of orchestrating a sweeping scheme with 19 other drug companies to inflate drug prices - sometimes by more than 1,000% - and stifle competition for generic drugs, state prosecutors said on Saturday.

The 20 drug companies engaged in illegal conspiracies to divide up the market for drugs to avoid competing and, in some cases, conspired to either prevent prices from dropping or to raise them, according to the complaint by 44 U.S. states, filed on Friday in the U.S. District Court in Connecticut. The 500-page lawsuit accuses the generic drug industry, which mainly sells medicines that are off patent and should be less expensive, of a long history of discreet agreements to ensure that companies that are supposedly competitors each get a “fair share.

The lawsuit also names 15 individuals as defendants who it said carried out the schemes on a day-to-day basis. The lawsuit seeks damages, civil penalties and actions by the court to restore competition to the generic drug market. However, it added, “Prices for hundreds of generic drugs have risen – while some have skyrocketed, without explanation, sparking outrage from politicians, payers and consumers across the country whose costs have doubled, tripled, or even increased 1,000% or more.”

Teva has done a lot worse to America:

Isn't that antisemitic

Their HRT hormones are much too high. Should be cheap, like birth control pills are.

States allege generic drug executives deleted texts, obstructed justice in price cartel probeConnecticut has been leading an antitrust investigation into Teva and other companies. If the left-wing education system stopped validating unvalidated mental health drugs for teenagers and removing any incentive for health professionals to be competitive then drug cartels might not be such an unchallenged industry. APNewsBreak: Drugmakers will have to reveal prices in TV adsWASHINGTON (AP) — Drugmakers will be required to reveal the prices of their prescription medicines in those ever present TV ads, the Trump administration is set to announce on Wednesday, even as... How will the price affect the purchasing decisions of a person who needs that medicine to live? Answer: It won't. So this is a pointless measure. How about banning them from advertising I don't agree with much from POTUS but this, admittedly, is a step in the right direction on an issue he has talked about for years.

U.S. Soccer Denies Discrimination in Response to LawsuitThe U.S. Soccer Federation filed a formal response to the U.S. Women’s National Team’s gender-discrimination lawsuit Monday, denying alleged pay inequities by saying that female players have an entirely different pay structure, and different duties, than members of the men’s national team. Who watch female soccer ? For christ sake The federation faced a Monday deadline for its response which comes just a month before the start of the Women’s World Cup: Any alleged pay differential between members of the women’s & men’s teams is based on differences in the aggregate revenue generated by the different teams. Was one of the “different duties” for the men to NOT qualify for World Cup? What a crock.
