New coronavirus cases in the U.S. fell to their lowest level in a week, while the nation’s total number of infections approached six million and the virus continued to spread rapidly in other countries, including India. The U.S. reported more than 35,000 new cases for Sunday, the smallest daily increase since Aug. 23, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. The U.S. death toll topped 183,000.
The pandemic showed signs of easing in states such as California and Florida. California, which has the highest number of confirmed cases in the country, reported fewer than 4,000 new infections Sunday, its lowest daily total since July 4, according to Johns Hopkins data. Florida, which has struggled to contain outbreaks this summer, also reported a decline in new cases to under 2,600, its lowest daily total in six days, and well below the peak of more than 15,000 new cases reached on July 12, according to Johns Hopkins.as schools reopen and flu season approaches, saying they aim to avoid a repeat of July when overwhelming demand for testing led to long delays for results.

Any decline in COVID numbers in TX are questionable... number of tests administered has dropped; reporting system has been flawed; criteria for testing changes daily; safety measures compliance split by political views; delayed results; no tracing of contacts. TX PROMOTES LIES!!
Great news if accurate. Unfortunately data is corrupt esp from FLA. we can no longer trust the numbers as HHS has a political agenda 1 and transparency 7 in terms of priority. Just see what the FDA got forced into saying.

Florida has not done anything to reduce the spread. Those numbers should not be trusted.
Ever since the states had to start reporting covid data to DHHS the number of cases have have been rapidly dropping. Many states had to revise their previous reports to CDC once that same data had to be sent to DHHS. By tens...and in some states by hundreds of thousands of cases.

It is going to fluctuate. The short-sighted obsession with the number of cases day to day is not really useful. We are not going to stop it in it's tracks. Slow, not stop, the spread so hospitals can cope and treatments/vaccines can continue to be developed.

Yeah now that the CDC revised the counts to show only 6% of the total died of Covid. 94% had pre-existing conditions, on their way out and there is absolutely no way to determine if Covid caused their death (unlikely given the LOW NUMBER OF COVID DEATHS) or if they died of other.

How do we know the numbers haven’t been fixed since the CDC no longer gets direct updates? If trump or his kool aid drinkers are anywhere near the data, it can’t be trusted
That’s what happens when CDC tells states not to test those who are a symptomatic even if contact with confirmed case. You don’t test numbers go down and truth hidden 🤷🏾♀️
