The number of COVID-19 cases in the United States was on track to surpass 12 million on Saturday, just days ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday that health experts have warned could fuel the surging spread of infection around the country.

Health officials have warned that the wave of infections could soon overwhelm the healthcare system if people do not follow public health guidance, particularly around not traveling and mingling with other households for the traditional Thanksgiving celebration on Thursday. Many Americans appeared to defy that guidance in the days leading up the holiday. On Friday, video footage on Twitter showed more than a hundred people, wearing masks, crowding departure gates at Sky Harbor airport in Phoenix, Arizona.

As the United States set a new record for COVID-19 cases on Friday - 196,815 infections in a day - Pfizer Inc said it would seek emergency-use authorization of its vaccine from U.S. regulators, the first such application.

And idiots are still going to travel and spread this shit around for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.

Once all the superspreader dinners are over, and cases and deaths mount even higher, this Thanksgiving will forever be known as The Turkey’s Revenge.

Almost like the United States is a rudderless boat on the pandemic sea. Trump's incompetence is the reason HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of people are dead.

School near me called off because they couldn’t trust people not to congregate and spread disease over thanksgiving. Wise move.

Who thought 10 months ago we'd be here with 12 million cases. And over 250 thousand died. You'd figure the government, and the people would have learned something over this time. doyourpart

Those aren't concurrent. Fuck off, I'm seeing my family.

Old news

Trump's level of concern.
