The U.S. and Ethiopia are maneuvering over where data from the black-box recorders found at the Ethiopian Airlines crash site will be downloaded

U.S. air-safety investigators on Tuesday engaged in intense behind-the-scenes discussions with their Ethiopian counterparts regarding where the black-box recorders found amid the wreckage of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 will be downloaded, according to people familiar with the matter.

Parts of the devices were damaged in Sunday’s crash of the Boeing Co. 737 MAX airliner that killed 157 people, these people said, and Ethiopia doesn’t have the required laboratory facilities and experienced staff to ensure crucial data will...

It's quite interesting to see people who only read headlines and rush to make comments. Ethiopia never said it will hold the black box. The whole point is to find an independent country to check the data. US obviously has a vested interest in this.

No not a right decision, not analyzing the actual reason because of some turf battle is the height of foolishness. The world awaits an answer & Ethiopia is playing games. Release boxes, get them analyzed & publicize underlying reason. Sooner is a whole lot better, than later.

Right decision as the FAA and other US government officials do have a conflict interest when it comes to Boeing: - the FAA’s current chief used to be a lobbyist for the airline and aerospace industry -the Defence Secretary used to be Boeing exec. So yes we need a 3rd party.

Good approach

We knew , we can understand this decision, now US has been trustless in aviation safety.

Even Ethiopia doesn’t trust the integrity of our government agencies? How far we have fallen under the rules of Globalist and their corrupt practices over the last 25 years?

If you don’t want them to have any influence , you better start making your own planes, if not you better shut up and accept reality as it is

Damn! I can't believe that the manufacturer is not in some kind of contractual control of those black boxes. Maybe they ought to study John Deere and ownership of equipment after its manufacture.

of course not; I'm sure there are lots of locals with vast aerospace expertise who can show those arrogant Yanks a thing or 2

Oh, so they’re already running from the truth? Gotcha.

Gosh. Who saw that one coming? 737MAX

Southwest says it remains 'confident' in its fleet of Boeing planes after Ethiopia crashSouthwest Airlines Co. expressed confidence in its Boeing Co. aircraft and said has no plans to change operations in the wake of a deadly crash involving a 737 Max 8 aircraft in Ethiopia. But shares of the airline fell over 3% in premarket trading, alongside a nearly 9% drop in Boeing shares. "As Southwest operates a fleet of 34 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, we have been in contact with Boeing and will continue to stay close to the investigation as it progresses," said a spokesman for the company. Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crashed shortly after takeoff from the capitol of Addis Ababa, killing all 157 people on board. It's the second deadly accident involving Boeing's popular 737 Max 8 in six months, with the last occurring in October when an Indonesia Lion Air jet crashed into the sea, killing all 189 on board. China's civilian aviation authority has ordered all airlines to ground those Max 8 planes, while Ethiopian Airlines has grounded its entire fleet of those planes. "We don't have any changes planned to our operational policies or procedures," said the Southwest spokesman. Losses for Boeing drove a 170-point drop in Dow futures. Boeing needs to ground all these new 737's immediately Caution is warranted pending the investigation and review of the facts at hand. Dont be a hero
