Backhaus has been operating a San Mateo bakery since 2019 and plans to open its second location at 261 California Drive in Burlingame in August or September. “My cafe team was telling me that people were coming in [to the San Mateo Backhaus bakery] and thinking that that’s us,” said Moser. “There’s just a lot of people voicing that confusion.” She said that even some of her suppliers were getting confused. She says her email went unanswered. She also said she sent a message to the restaurant’s Instagram page in March, and that went unanswered, too. Then, just before an article about the two bakeries was published in the, Twelvemonth’s general manager called Moser. They told her they had decided not to make any changes to the sign, Moser said.
