"We believe political message reach should be earned, not bought," Dorsey tweeted, along with a number of additional tweets explaining the reasons why.
A political message earns reach when people decide to follow an account or retweet. Paying for reach removes that decision, forcing highly optimized and targeted political messages on people. We believe this decision should not be compromised by money.
Ironic that this moves comes from the CEO of a company that contributes daily to the spread of misinformation and false news (according to studies false news spread 70% faster on twitter than real news). Get the whole biz in line!!! Just a PR move.
Fake news. Jack will manipulate regardless, behind the scenes.
Bet you it ONLY applies to REPUBLICANS
Now, we just need to see how they define “political.”
Best news I have heard all day! Thank you, Twitter.
Your turn Facebook
HAHA They know Trump has all the money and I'm sure they will take down this rule after Trump wins 2020.
Great. Just need Facebook to do the same now.
Thank you Jack Dorsey for making it stop...all of these politics can really wear the people of this country down. So, just thank you sir.
Now if only the rest of the world was like this.
Whatever..... Jack and his twatter will just ban anything slightly leaning right ... as they have been 🖕🏼
Will no longer...
DrewMarianiShow Intriguing....
👍👍😀
This is the best thing I’ve seen in years. Actually since Nov 2016!
Now if we could just get Disney banned.
Finally... facebookads
How long before the democrats declares anything that trump tweets as a political ad..
Julio_1thousand But I won't get to see the bullshit ewarren keeps promoting!

Our mission at is to build the social news network that ends fake news. Follow us Overlooked_Inc
President Trump will tweet about this in 3....2....1.....
Respect👊
Can't remember when I saw an actual political Ad on twitter. Seen a lot of political talking points, endorsements, opinions, slander, and shaming. I wonder what will constitute advertising for your political party? Hmmm. This could become mass censorship.🤔
Wouldn’t it more efficient to just let TwitterComms run your account?
Damn! Now the Russians can’t tell me who to vote for!
Are you for real Dorsey? If all politicians took a lie detector test, 100% would fail the test. Same for advertisers of goods and services. So go ahead Dorsey censor Twitter to bankruptcy. A new record Twitter jail will have the highest population of inmates in the world.
Ptmurf1016 Unlike corrupt and greedy Facebook! Dump Facebook cause they are corruption enablers!
Will ABC follow?
Bravo.
Best move all year
YES
Wish they had done this before the Canadian ELXN43
Good
Good decision! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
And for anyone who really believes this will apply to Democrats, I have some lovely property in Louisiana bayou country to sell ya.
I’m gonna hold you to that Twitter No political means UK included !!! brexitparty_uk DavidLammy UKLabour theSNP LibDems Conservatives NicolaSturgeon jeremycorbyn ....we (me and JuliaHB1 Iromg QueenvicE8 & many others ) will be watching 😱🤩🤪
Almost every story you post is a paid political ad for the democrats.
Your move facebook
'EARNED'..... MEANING 'WHOEVER I FAVOR'. MEANING..... HE WILL NOT ADVERTISE FOR THE 'BIGOT REPUBLICANS'. KIND OF SUBTLE..... BUT IS YELLING OUT LOUD. SO IF SOMEONE TWEETS 'VOTE FOR ME' IN A WAY.... IS THAT A 'POLITICAL ADD'? OR IS THIS JUST A 'LOOP HOLE' FOR CENSORSHIP.
Does that mean CNN's staff will not be allowed to post?
Who Cares about politics
um, hello, Twitter, does that mean you're banning the dotard?
But we know he does his best to shadowban, mute, and stop conservative voices on his site.
Bravo!!!!
Wow! This is huge!!!! Money can’t buy an election! Beto2020
