This photo combo of images shows, clockwise, from upper left: President Donald Trump speaking during a news conference at the White House on July 22, 2020, in Washington, the Twitter app, Democratic presidential candidate, former Vice President Joe Biden speaking during a campaign event on July 14, 2020, in Wilmington, Del., and the Facebook app.
Democratic challenger Joe Biden has spent thousands of dollars advertising on Facebook with a message of his own: In dozens of ads on the platform, he’s asked supporters to sign a petition calling on Facebook to remove inaccurate statements, specifically those from Trump. The major social media companies are navigating a political minefield as they try to minimize domestic misinformation and rein in foreign actors from manipulating their sites as they did in the last U.S. presidential election.
Those politics will no doubt be on full display Wednesday, when four big tech CEOs, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Google’s Sundar Pichai and Apple’s Tim Cook, testify to a House Judiciary Committee panel as part of a congressional investigation into the tech industry’s dominance. Despite criticizing Facebook, Biden’s campaign said it’s still purchasing millions of dollars in Facebook ads because it’s one of the few ways to counter Trump’s false posts — since Facebook won’t fact check him.
There's a big difference here between the two as far as just your headliner goes- Impeached Trump infringes on other copyrights and is usually served up with cease and desist orders. Joe Biden uses honesty and permissions.
Actions speak louder than words
I wonder if the money was spent on doing good in communities instead of on ads if that would make a difference in a campaign.
Given the main way people are exposed to news anymore is through social media, how is this news? It's certainly not a surprise.
Spending all this money on hateful ads while people are facing mass evictions because of the pitiful covid19 response is obscene
Facebook unpublished the MeidasTouch page without explanation Zuckerberg
Does Joe Biden target Twitter or Facebook because they are -sources of communication, Answers No ! Joe does fault the outlets for the plethora of inaccuracies in statements, outright lies + conspiracies spread. Joe believes in the Information Age. It’s about facts, truth + morals

Because there's no real other option.
“Joe Biden has spent thousands of dollars advertising on Facebook ... he’s asked supporters to sign a petition calling on Facebook to remove inaccurate statements, specifically those from Trump.”
President Donald Trump has bought hundreds of messages on Facebook to accuse its competitor, Twitter, of trying to stifle his voice and influence the November election.
Feel the BothSides of this argument! They are not remotely the same kinds of criticism from the candidates EricBoehlert
I fear that you wont get rid of Trump. Even if he'll lose in the election : he has a plan, and he will stay. Poor common people in US.
Cash is good- the best.
How the hell are people undecided? lol
His ads are worthless. This campaign is a joke. America knows the truth MR. TRUMP. This attempt to hone in your base then call BS. At election time. WE KNOW!!!!! ProjectLincoln DanRather DrAlGrossAK AngrierWHStaff RepAdamSchiff nativelivesmatter
Joe Biden cannot talk.
It’s where people go to look in their criticism of the platforms is because the platforms start putting weight to one side or the other for their political views that’s the criticism not because in America politicians are allowed to advertise
We really need to change the way we elect officials. More long form debate, less 60 second sound bites. Less money and ad onslaught, more candidate access with varying viewpoints. This crap format has been going on for waaaay too long. We can do better.
Does Biden know what day it is?
Didn't Facebook say that they wouldn't do political ads this year?
Pres Trump you rock.
AP at this current time
I own Facebook shares so thanks. You’re still going to lose. Trump 2020
Joe is a walking/talking ad against himself, no need to spend money.
“People don’t like their jobs, and yet they still do them. WTF?” journalism socialmedia
Why can't the AP understand you can do more than one thing at once.
