hasn’t been in the hands of customers for very long and already, AMS Performance has developed an ECU tune for the sports car.
For those that don’t know, AMS Performance is a well-respected tuner headquartered in West Chicago best known for building and tuning the world’s quickest GT-Rs. Evidently, they know a thing or two about fast Nissans and have wasted no time in working their magic on the 2023 Z. Driving the Z is the same 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 ‘VR30’ engine powering a number of Infiniti models. AMS Performance was already intimately familiar with the VR30 before the 2023 Z was launched and had developed Infiniti tunes for it alongside EcuTek. This gave it a jumpstart in giving the Z more horsepower and torque.
To put those figures into perspective, it’s worth watching the video below from YouTuber savagegeese. During it, he strapped a standardonto AMS Performance’s dyno where it delivered 372 hp and 362 lb-ft of torque through the rear wheels. So, not only has the tune added 80 hp at the wheels but it has also added a huge 161 lb-ft of torque.
The car that was dyno tested was also equipped with an aftermarket exhaust and high octane race fuel. The tuner notes that these figures are a work in progress and will likely change as work on the platform continues.
