Trump says 'airplanes far too complex to fly' after Boeing's 737 Max crash

In a multipart tweet that didn’t specifically mention Boeing Co. BA, -6.35% or a Sunday crash of 737 Max 8 jet near Addis Ababa that left 157 people dead, the president said: “Airplanes are becoming far too complex to fly. Pilots are no longer needed, but rather computer scientists from MIT. I see it all the time in many products.”

Trump’s tweet comes as aviation regulators across the globe have taken the unusual step of grounding the 737 Max jets on the heels of the weekend Ethiopian Airlines crash, even after the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration declared the planes airworthy. The crash in Ethiopia came after a 737 Max 8 in Indonesia, operated by Lion Air, fatally crashed in the Java Sea back in October.

The company holds a significant place on Wall Street and Washington; it is the maker of Air Force One, which is a highly customized model 747-200B, and it is the most influential component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.21% Boeing’s stock had been the best performer among the Dow’s 30 components, up about 24%, until the past two sessions.

This coming from a man that can only barely figure out Twitter. Clown 🤡

MASA Make America Stupid Again

The weather is far too complex to forecast

Is that mean I’m smarter than him, well never mind everyone is😂

Too complex for his single-celled brain.

In Europe, TUI and Norwegian now grounding their 737 Max 8.

Cars as well, are harder to manage: wipers, heater, radio, etc.

What's your advice is like the pilots go back to school?

This is not surprising. A man who thinks that a wall will protect the country does not believe in airplanes.

A man who does not know how to turn on and use a computer should probably keep his mouth shut over technological progress.

It’s called technology you old goat

My experience is that ENGINEERS are WAY TOO OPTIMISTIC about their designs, and ACCOUNTANTs have TOO MUCH INPUT in designs.

Boeing needs to come up with credible answers🙏 It's not about Boeing it's about the greed with which aircraft are being used by airlines. A formality of inspection is done. With eyes how can one be sure that everything is in place? Maintenance is the reason of all air crashes and maintenance needs time. Air travel is dangerous!
