WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced a new plan to eliminate student loan debt for disabled veterans.
At the conclusion of his remarks, Trump stayed on stage to sign the executive order in front of the crowd of several hundred veterans gathered for the convention in the Galt House Hotel. Trump, who was accompanied on his trip by Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, among others, said that his proposal would eliminate an average of $30,000 for each of the more than 25,000 eligible veterans"who have made immense sacrifices, the ultimate sacrifice in many ways for our nation.”

It's an incredibly empty gesture. He didn't 'wipe out' the student debt as he and conservative pundits claimed, he 'fast tracked' the process to eliminate the debts, a warmed over Obama Administration project. Basically he's 'thinking about doing something about' it.

What a bold move to eliminate student debt for all completely disabled vets. Why do vets have student debts? There is half a dozen programs for vets and family to get education funding.
Our leaders sent them into harm's way in the midst of knee jerk public hysteria surrounding phantom 'WMDs', so, we should take care of them now that they are broken and in need... They did not know it was a lie when they joined... Much like the Vietnam boys... Just say'un...

That’s great but what about eliminating plus parent loan debt for people like me. I am a widowed Mom who was able to get my Son through college by slicing meat at Walmart. My plus parent loan never seems to go down from month to month.

There. 'Eliminating Student Debt' issue is finished & off the table. Democrats demanded that SOME people get their student debt eliminated, but NOT ALL. realDonaldTrump has followed the Democrat lead & weeded down the list to those in REAL NEED. Democrats should thank POTUS.
Usually vets dont have student loan debt because of the GI Bill. Also disabled people's student loan debt is eliminated already. 2 of my non vet friends were able to get their debt forgiven using this existing rule. So why was this necessary?
