Many districts have ancient buildings with poor ventilation and no air conditioning. School Funding had been down for years so infrastructure has been neglected. Imagine wearing a mask while trying to learn in a room with a 90 degree temperature.
For kid’s wellbeing, they need to go back to school. Students and parents can have the option to opt for online or in-person classes but they must have the OPTION. What if the inability to return to school forces a parent to lose their job/insurance? That’s a REAL health crisis.
How many cases of COVID-19 have been traced to school-age children? How many of those died due to it? Isn’t that the starting point for risk assessment?
Most of the teachers in my district are opting to return. We have a plan for masks and social distance. The district is offering full online for people. It's taking a lot of work but we are going to try.
In my country we had learning online and I spoke with a teacher about this. She said she have more works but safety comes first. We opened the borders and we shall see what will happen. Everyone’s safety should come first.

You had 3 months to come up with a plan, technically we had since the virus to do so but we was so focused on calling out Trump wrongs we couldn't make time for that. much like we so into a black female vp we don't have time to think about the people getting evicted.
There are other options and funding needs to go to parents so they can choose them. We found homeschool. charter, online school, and private teacher study groups work very well, and did from March thru May, but a lot of parents need $$ to access to them.
We are going to have to eschew regional schools and go back to community schools. Get the architects working on designs to reduce spread of illness. This is not our last pandemic and it might not even be our worst.
