In his last weeks in office, former President Donald Trump considered replacing the acting attorney general with another official who would be more amenable to pursuing unproven claims of election fraud, people familiar with the matter said.
The plan was stymied when the Justice Department’s top leaders agreed on a conference call in early January that they would resign en masse if Mr. Trump fired then-acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen, the people said, averting what could have become a new crisis in the administration’s waning days.
In Mr. Rosen’s place, Mr. Trump had considered installing another senior Justice Department official, Jeffrey Clark, who had expressed a willingness to use the department’s power to help the former president continue his unsuccessful legal battles contesting the election results, these people said. Mr. Clark denied involvement in a plan to oust Mr. Rosen, which was first reported by the New York Times.
“My practice is to rely on sworn testimony to assess disputed factual claims,” Mr. Clark said in a statement sent to The Wall Street Journal after the publication of the story in the Times. “There were no ‘maneuver[s].’ There was a candid discussion of options and pros and cons with the president. It is unfortunate that those who were part of a privileged legal conversation would comment in public about such internal deliberations, while also distorting any discussions.

Amazon and Jeff Bezos do not want their workers voting by mail-in-ballots on unionization. An Amazon spokesperson tells CNN the company is seeking a 'valid, fair and successful election' and in-person would ensure that. 🤨
I guess Trump was right. There was election fraud. Only it came from him.
Lols. Suddenly you don't have news except Trump. Why not focus on the current administration.
Unproved? How dare you... for god sake
Anonymous sources stated.....
This is why it was so dangerous that he was almost elected again. If he did this stuff pre-election and after a loss, imagine how much worse he would been if he won after doing all this. This is the closest we've ever come to creating a dictatorship.
No, he 'pursued' it
There will be lots of stories like this: some with merit, others less so. They will appear in books that various individuals will write over the coming years.
Way to whitewash, WSJ.
Wee, I suppose any claim us “unproven” until investigated. Right?
Obsession with Trump...
'UNPROVEN'? The claims were never even investigated? BidenCheated
All I can say is thank God for Rosen and all of the others who were willing to stand up to Trump and do what is right. It gives me hope for our democracy that we still have people who put the country and our democracy ahead of the wishes of their bosses. heroes
Convict.
This was reported by the NYTs based on their history of misleading/distorted reporting, think this needs to be verified by a legitimate media outlet
And they intend to let him walk away without conviction the world will lose faith in your justice and how the future presidents might act since they can do whatever they like as he has done 🤮
