President Donald Trump had"the absolute right" to order that his son-in-law Jared Kushner be given top-secret security clearance over White House concerns — if that is in fact what happened — Trump's senior advisor Kellyanne Conway said Friday.
"Today, I am writing in light of grave new reports that—just eight days after the Committee launched this investigation—President Trump may have falsely claimed that he played no role in the security clearance process," wrote Cummings, the committee's chairman. The Times report contradicts repeated denials by Trump and his daughter Ivanka Trump — Kushner's wife — that the president did not order aides to give Kushner that level of security clearance after sustained concerns about him from intelligence agencies.
Kushner's clearance was delayed for more than a year because of questions about his"foreign and business contacts, including those related to Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Russia," The Times reported, citing multiple sources familiar with the situation.

HE WANTS HIM TO LOOK OVER HIS BACK
Then why did Trump say he didn't think he had the authority and in any case wouldn't do that. How do we pay any attention to what admin says?!
Just more nepotism.....
It is legal. Unusual but legal.
Then why did he lie about it
Absurd tweets in response to CNBC chronic negative anti Trump postings.
There is no question he had the right. But should he have used it? Did he use it for anyone else? The family connection is what makes it wrong. The fact that he does not see that is what makes him moronic.
Absolute rights tend to lead to hubris then disaster. Overruling trusted and competent advisors tend to lead to syncophantic Incompetent advisors and then disaster. Thats the lesson of recorded history everywhere and always.
BLAH BLAH BLAH
He’s the President he could give clearance to El Chappo.
And of course realDonaldTrump also has the right to lie that he had nothing to do with it.
Donald Trump can't even get a security clearance. And, if that was his right then why is everybody lying about it and covering it up?
Yes he has the right, but is top secret clearance by nepotism really very smart and then to cover it up by lying to the American public. It seems Trump lying to the American public is acceptable because its not illegal.
Why did he lie about it?
If he has absolute right, then why not come out and say he gave the clearance. Why lie? Cover up ? Revealing that Kushner is Trump’s back door contact to the Middle East ?
He does what he wants anyway
That is not the point. What is the point is that he denied he did. A leader owns his decisions yet Trump wants to cut it both ways for maximum political impact. That is the issue!
Trump and GOP does not realize once Jared is no longer in the administration what damage he could do in the private sector with high level information he acquired.
He does. That’s not the problem. Lying about it is the problem
EVERYONE IN THE WHITE HOUSE IS CORRUPT! Come on people...did you really think that the Trump Mob would play by the books? They have been and will always work the system. Republicans have been played and now they are trying to cover their asses.
So he can spill all the secrets to his mates in the current right wing Israeli government.
What does this have to do with the markets? You are just another left-leaning propaganda fakenews network.
I would not want this guy to know if I were an undercover agent of the United States. That kind of clearance gives him access to that. Their loyalty is suspect and lives are at stake. In the Kremlin no one can hear you scream.
You people at CNBC aren’t quite as useless as cnn but damn close !!!
Ide like to know what color trumps last bowl movement was ? Could you also make me aware of the volume of urine he has when he wakes on a Thursday morning
trump is a parasite on the American treasury !
Only to Trump fans.. FYI Iamrepublic
But Hillary’s email server
But he lied about it
KellyannePolls Is this your finally answer? HouseOversight
onahunttoday Trump keeps showing us that more and more Constitutional Amendments are needed.
Is that an admission of a lie? Oops
So he lied, because he knew it didn't look good?
A president has the right to grant a security clearance, but he didn't care why Jared wasn't given one. He is treating him as family, not as an employee of the federal gov't. Family members should not be in the White House. Ridiculous!
It’s looks like kings orders vs President that serve nation...
But....why lie about it?
Senate Congress WhiteHouse Pentagon Trump On Jared Kushner - So Why Lie That He Didn't THE LIES!!!
Since Kellyanne's Overlord, President Trump is the Absolute Ruler of America, Of Course he did.
Then why lie? Because when it is reversed or found out he's got an excuse
But why lie? There’s always something he’s hiding!!
She’s absolutely right, he has the absolute right to do that. But that begs the question “why spend all the time and money to do a background investigation on someone who is going to get a clearance regardless of the results of the background check?” I’m just saying.....
But he didn't have anything to do with it, so it's all academic anyway, right? 😉
Check security clearance of past presidents before u pop off...
but he dindu it.
Presidents have ‘absolute’ rights to nothing. They are public servants in the co-equal branches.
He also has the “right” to attack Canada! Doesn’t mean he should!
Trump can legally give security clearance to any criminal he wants...including Kushner.
WOWWW ANOTHER NEW MICHAEL COHN THEY LIE TO PROTECT THE PRESIDENT AT ALL COST ! Democrats clean them all OUT
