Former President Donald Trump has dropped his attacks on Democrats who face charges from the DOJ, complicating his messaging about being tough on crime.

Trump has regularly claimed that the Justice Department, which has levied two indictments against him through special counsel Jack Smith, has been weaponized by President Joe Biden and is “election interference” for the presidential rematch between himself and Biden in November. While Trump has blasted the DOJ, he has also attacked its prosecutions of some Democrats.
