The Trump administration finalized a rule that will require drugmakers to disclose prices in consumer-directed television ads, despite skepticism the move will lower the high cost of medicines

The information should appear in text large enough for most people to read and include a statement that patients with health insurance may pay a different sum.HHS Secretary Alex Azar called the requirement "the single most significant step any administration has taken" toward price transparency, in a news release. But health policy experts are skeptical it will have any impact on drug costs.

The drug industry spent more than $5.5 billion on advertising in 2017, including nearly $4.2 billion on television ads, according to HHS.By signing up you agree to receive email newsletters or alerts from POLITICO. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Finally a headline that reflects some truth. There will be no price reduction. Where is the incentive in an ad of all things to be truthful.

How about we do not advertise drugs to consumers. Instead let's ensure doctors make those decisions. Like most other countries in the world.

Don’t we already get quite ENOUGH about the real co$t of rx’s when we finish pick up at the pharmacy counter. So is 💩⛳️ Trump trying to rub salt in our wounds with some phony 📺 commercial story. SenateGOP SenateDems

All drug commercials should be removed from television! If you want to know what medicines you need, ask your damn doctor. Then fight like hell to reduce drug cost!

This isn’t going to do shit...his pals running the drug companies are laughing at this idiotic plan!!!

The United States and New Zealand are the only two countries where direct to consumer advertising from drug companies is legal. This seems like a step in the right direction at least.

All that does is take the price shock out of it. How does it lower the price?

good Trump

They should not really have been allowed to run those sorts of ads in the first place. We really needed those laws that used to govern broadcast TV. Now it's all crap. I used to keep one for news, but their standards have declined and now I read it on-line.

Great president
