Trump Admits He’s Never Talked to Putin About Bounties for Killing U.S. Troops

Photo: Drew Angerer/Getty Images In all of his discussions with Vladimir Putin, the most recent of which was last week, President Trump has never brought up U.S. intelligence reports suggesting that Russia paid bounties for the murder of American troops in Afghanistan, he admitted in an interview with Axios on HBO.In late June, the New York Times reported that U.S. intelligence “concluded months ago” that the GRU, Russia’s military intelligence agency, paid bounties for the killing of U.S.

Trump returned to both of those points in the interview, insisting that the information never reached his desk and that the intelligence community “didn’t think it was real.” Reports have suggested that the information on the bounty program was included in Trump’s daily written brief, but the White House says he was never orally briefed on the subject. It has been widely reported that Trump doesn’t read his Daily Brief, though he disputed that too.

If Trump never discussed the bounties story with Putin, how does he know that it's fake news? If Trump did discuss the bounties story with Putin, the only reason why he'd lie about it is because the story is not fake news.

It's impossible for the 🍊🤡 to denounce Putin. It would destroy him if he did. He's compromised. Plain and simple.

Yet it was in his briefing. He says it didn't make it to his desk. Then he also says he reads his briefings so which is it?
