Flooding in parts of Texas has become so severe that evacuation orders have been issued, prompting one sheriff to declare that the impact dwarfed that of Hurricane Harvey.
"What I'm sitting in right now makes Harvey look like a little thunderstorm," Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne toldThe flooding forced the evacuation of multiple patients at Riceland Medical Center, which took on four to six inches of water. Some homes also had up to five feet of water and Hawthorne told KTRK that about 20 percent of the estimated 2,500 people in Winnie, Texas, have water in their homes.
"The community of Winnie is being devastated by rising water. The sheriff office has deployed high water rescue vehicles and airboats," the Chambers County Sheriff Office posted on Facebook. Texas is being battered by Tropical Depression Imelda, which one sheriff claimed made Harvey look like a thunderstorm.During a Flash Flood Watch, conditions could develop that lead to flash flooding, which the NWS labeled in all capital letters a"very dangerous situation."
Yep.. I'm sitting in the middle of it. Thunder and lightening for 11 hours straight..floods everywhere and they told us it would be between 1 to 3 inches 2 days ago. Mother Nature is showing you man can't control her. Nederland Tx. next to Beaumont TX
Haven't experienced a tropical depression like this since I went to the Bahamas with my ex-wife in '02. Speaking of which - if you tell her these flood waters will get her drunk, she'll drink the whole city dry by 4pm! C'mon
In Beaumont it’s worse. North around Conroe, but Houston area is not as bad..
Watch them get Trump money. While we are to 'liberal agenda' and get no 🔥 money Whistleblower just tanked your fuhrer trumpkins!
Is this a joke? It’s nowhere nearly as bad as Harvey. I was flooded in my neighborhood for 3 days during Harvey with no power, the store I went to had a line of hundreds waiting to get in, and it nearly got inside my house. It hasn’t even gotten over the sidewalk in my area
Oh my.
