Leveraged exchange-traded oil funds are among the top-performing ETFs of 2019, but investors have pulled hundreds of millions of dollars despite strong gains

Oil funds that use leverage to juice returns have been among the top-performing exchange-traded funds of 2019, gaining more than 70%.

Yet investors have pulled $336 million from five exchange-traded products that seek to double or triple the daily return of U.S. crude futures contracts, a sign that there’s more than meets the eye in this obscure and risky market.
