Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said the U.S. would likely prevent American investors from receiving payments on Russian debt, a decision that could push Russia toward default on its foreign debts for the first time since 1918

A sanctions carve-out that has allowed Russia to stay current on its sovereign debts is likely to expire on May 25 Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said the U.S. and its allies are trying to minimize any economic blowback from the sanctions they impose on Russia.
