Leaked memo shows Travis Kalanick's food tech startup is sending workers back to the office three days a week, including Fridays

The hybrid policy could ruffle feathers among workers recruited into"fully remote" roles during the pandemic, one current employee told Insider. that some employees opposed CSS's approach to the pandemic. At the start of lockdowns, Kalanick told every team to hold two daily check-in meetings, one in the morning and one in the evening.

Now, under the policy outlined in the recent memo, employees can choose to work from home on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They will also have a choice to work from home three days each quarter on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Those three days of the week are mandatory and can't be swapped. Human resources and Gabrielli will review all exceptions.

"We'd like people in the office on the same days and more frequently," Gabrielli wrote in the memo."We don't want to miss opportunities to include everyone or meet everyone on the team. The kind of work we do at CSS, and in our team, is best done together, in person.""Over time, we'd like to see the majority of our workforce in the office five days a week. When we have more clarity around this timeline, we will share it," the memo stated.
