As homelessness worsens in cities across the country, subway systems face a rise in people using trains and stations as shelters. So transit systems are setting up programs typically handled by social workers and others to get people help.

Jeffrey Knueppel’s skills include running trains, buses and subways, and helping people who are homeless find jobs and housing.

The retired general manager of the Philadelphia region’s transit authority, like a growing number of transit officials around the country, increasingly assumed a social-welfare role in recent years as his agency struggled to cope with rising homelessness.

This problem calls for all hands on deck.

You cannot solve homeless crisis by trying to patch up things on the fly. You need a humane government and country for that, and the current US Government led by the inhumane Republicans, who put a value of zero next to poor lives, cannot solve this crisis.

Looks like liberalism of the cities are taking us back in time to unsafe and filthy public transportation. The glimmers of hope these cities had are fading after a couple of decades of lack of accountability.

As homelessness worsens in predominantly democrat governed cities across the country.....San Fran, New York, Shitcago, Detroit.....

Where has $850m gone? Bill de Blasio's wife can't account for staggering amount of taxpayer money that the NY Mayor gave her for mental health project.
