Exclusive: Peter Dinklage, who voices the Terrorcon Scourge in TransformersRiseoftheBeasts, explains why villains have more fun sometimes:

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts actor Peter Dinklage shares why he enjoys playing villains. The Transformers franchise continues with Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the second film in the saga’s post-Michael Bay era. Iconic Transformers Optimus Prime and Bumblebee return as expected, but work with a lineup of new faces including crossover characters from the mid-'90s Beast Wars: Transformers animated series and new-to-the-franchise stars Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT New villains rise as well in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, with the Terrorcons working in the service of iconic Transformers villain Unicron. As evidenced in any Transformers: Rise of the Beasts cast guide, top-tier talent has been enlisted to bring human and machine alike to life. For Scourge, the leader of the Terrorcons, the filmmakers turned to film and TV star Dinklage, who apparently relished the opportunity to play a villain.

Peter Dinklage: It's a lot of fun. Villains are, in my experience, the most fun you can have at the movies because they don't care. And it's the movies, so it's safe. You love them because you're safe from their actual... the reality of what they're doing. I've played a few villains in my day, and I just find they're fun because they don't care.

Why Terrorcons Were The Right Villains for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is the first movie in the Transformers film franchise that doesn’t feature the series’ signature Decepticons. It’s a strong choice that helps to cement the new timeline of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and Bumblebee by focusing on a brand-new story and different faction dynamics.

The reign of the Terrorcons also buys time for creators to decide when and how to fully bring Decepticons back into the fold. Megatron was notably absent from Bumblebee, and if the new timeline is going to break from Bay’s once and for all—or, at least, make the break clearer than ever—the re-introduction of the top Decepticon is a powerful way to do so.
