The totality path of the 2024 solar eclipse is expected to be about 124 miles wide and will stretch across 13 states, from Texas to New Hampshire. For those wanting to see the eclipse, NASA suggests wearing eye protection. The only time it's not needed is during the brief total phase when the moon completely blocks the sun's bright face.
The American Astronomical Society has curated a list of reputable vendors of solar filters and glasses that you can viewis hosting a viewing party at the John & Annie Glenn Museum in New Concord. Free eclipse glasses will be distributed to those attending. Many other central Ohio libraries are distributing free solar eclipse glasses. You can find your local library by zip code
You can view the eclipse directly without proper eye protection only when the Moon completely obscures the Sun’s bright face – during the brief and spectacular period known as totality.
