The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the region on Saturday.that extends through Saturday evening for much of the region. Cuyahoga, Lorain, Medina, Portage, Geauga, Lake and Ashtabula counties all fall in the flood watch zone, which extends past Ohio’s eastern border into Pennsylvania.
Periodic showers and thunderstorms are expected, producing widespread rainfall of 1 to 2 inches, though the Weather Service warned that torrential rainfall could generate even greater totals. Heavy and fast rain could result in excessive runoff, flooding rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying locations, along with portions of urban areas with poor drainage.Saturday storms also could bring damaging winds and the potential for an isolated tornado. WKYC predicts that it will be hot and humid with highs in the 80s on Saturday.
Expect things to dry out on Sunday, according to WKYC, with lingering clouds and improving humidity. Temperatures should crest in the low-to-mid 70s.
