The production is also hashing out plans for several international runs, details of which will be announced at a later date.was originally expected to be a long-running success. With a capitalization of around $20 million, relatively high for a musical, the show earned generally positive reviews and two Tony Awards — for book writer Robert Horn and lead actor Santino Fontana.
The show has played to around 70 percent capacity in recent months, with cumulative box office over 33 weeks at $31.2 million. Producers may be able to recoup part of their initial investment over the holiday season, which is the most lucrative time of the year for Broadway, but the show seems certain to close in the red.
