Detroit Tigers shortstop Javier Baez was removed from Thursday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays after appearing to lose track of outs and running into a double play.

Detroit Tigers' Javier Baez watches his double against the Toronto Blue Jays in second-inning baseball game action in Toronto, Thursday, April 13, 2023.

Facing Chris Bassitt, Báez doubled off the left field wall with one out in the second inning for his first extra base-hit this season. Báez didn’t run hard out of the batter’s box, apparently thinking he had homered. Between innings, television cameras caught Tigers manager A.J. Hinch and Báez descending the steps that lead from the dugout to the clubhouse for a brief chat. Báez returned to the dugout, grabbed his glove, untucked his shirt and left again.

The Eternal Cub

Baez got a 150 mil and then said I’m good

Give it a calculator

Baez will be traded by the deadline and in true Chris Illitch fashion the Tigers will get prospects. Probably pay 50% of this guys contract too.

This is low hanging fruit decision by the manager. AJ Hinch is desperate, his club is in last place, he’s in the hot seat and with Baez’ track record that was an easy decision for him. If this was someone else he doesn’t make that move.

I think it’s an ego issue. He’s always gonna be my Cubs, but he is what he is. Amazing player!!

Is he okay? That sounds like a potential medical issue.

Study: Nearly a third of downtown Detroit is parkingDetroit's downtown has more parking lots or garages than most other major U.S. metros. The central business district itself is 30% parking. 1) the city is Motown, get over it. 2) what would you prefer, the abandoned lots that make up enormous portions of the rest of the city? I seem to detect an anti car agenda from axios. Or just awful news judgment.
