This system is expected to deliver less precipitation than the one last Sunday that dumped up to 3 inches of rain over the Dixie Fire burn scar in Butte and Plumas counties, trigging mudslides that closed Highway 70.
In the San Francisco Bay Area, the biggest impact with this system will be chilly weather. Inland valleys are unlikely to break 70 on Friday afternoon. Overnight lows Friday night into Saturday morning could drop into the 40s in inland valleys and in the 50s along the coast. On Saturday, afternoon highs are forecast to be about 3 to 5 degrees warmer than they were on Friday with inland areas in the 70s and coastal locations in the 60s.
Sunday marks a start of a warming trend with high pressure building over the state and gradual warming is forecast to continue into next week.
