Readers note that March is Red Cross Month; admire those who work for Annunciation House in El Paso; and appreciate those who helped with Community Outreach’s 5K.

Last year in the DFW Metro East Chapter, encompassing Collin, Dallas, Grayson and Rockwall counties, the Red Cross assisted 685 families who had experienced a disaster, hosted 1,304 blood drives, collected more than 24,000 units of blood, helped more than 2,000 military community members and provided first aid, CPR and AED training to more than 38,500 people.Last year, 1,925 volunteers from our community stepped up to help their neighbors.
