Tens of thousands of airline workers will lose their jobs in a matter of days if Congress is unable to break through its gridlock

Setting partisanship aside, a question has hung over deliberations on the Hill: Why should airline workers be spared with a massive cash injection from Congress when millions of employees in countless other industries have already lost their jobs or are on the brink of unemployment? If travel isn't expected to rebound for years, some experts think the time to rip off the bandage is now.

"The question is really what’s the minimum viable size you can have so that you can expand when Covid dies down, so they can surge forward once the market opens up," he said. "I passionately believe it's a bridge to somewhere," Hayes said. "We don't need a full recovery in [2021] for the industry to stand on its own two feet. We just need to get back to somewhere closer to normal and we can take it from there."

We're hearing that the House is drafting a new COVID relief bill today, and that airlines are ALREADY included, but public transit is not. That's unacceptable.Transit advocates also want Congress to meet transit agencies’ ask for $32 billion to aid their recovery this year.

You & I can't issue stock or bonds, the AIRLINES can & should be doing exactly that instead of turning to CONGRESS. Not a red cent to CORP as INDIVIDUALS when their abilities are far beyond those of us who are truly INDIVIDUALS aka issuing stock & BONDS...NOT.

Maybe gop will read the headline about airlines and react like zombies to a fresh body, muttering “bailout!” With those bailouts maybe some smb workers will get some relief. donothinggop

garyleff assume you've seen...

They’re not flying as many plants as they were so they don’t need as many people looks like they’ll have to find another line of work

They don’t have to lay off all of these people. The executives need to take pay cuts and give them distribute them to the workers. I’m so sick of American taxpayers bailing out the airline industry. It’s time and time and time again since Reagan I remember this

The bill is there for Democrats to pass it.

Will the stimulus pass now or will they just throw bags of money to this industry🤔!

Let it FALL, let it FALL, let it FALL...

Without extending the Payroll Support Program, airlines say they will have to start laying off pilots, flight attendants, mechanics and more. And at least some of those workers, will head to the unemployment office — right before the November election.

Cars have hit demonstrators 104 times since George Floyd protests began'There are groups that do want people to take their cars and drive them into Black Lives Matters protesters so that they won’t protest anymore ... I look at it as an anti-protester group of acts, some of which are white supremacists, some not.' Not according to the videos. Every single time a car ran through a BLM protest it's because protesters blocked the road, surrounded and jumped on the car. The only recent person to drive through a crowd on purpose was the BLM activist that hit Trump supporters in a parking lot. This journalist & person she quoted probably doesn’t drive & relies on public trans. 🙄 Don't play in traffic. Amazing how the obvious escapes some people.
