Thousands of Australians gathered in protests on Saturday embracing the cause of U.S. protesters angered by the death of a black man in police custody, defying bans and police warnings that fines will be issued for breaching social-distancing rules.

Inspired by the death of George Floyd - who died in Minneapolis after a white policeman knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes - rallies were also set to take place in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Hobart. Australians were also using their protests to call for an end of mistreatment of indigenous Australians by police. Many protesters in Brisbane were wrapped in indigenous flags.

Protesters vowed to rally even without a permit, with Australian media reporting there were still about 5,000 people expected to attend the Sydney protest.“Freedom of speech isn’t as free as we would like it to be at the moment,” Elliott said. “Rules at the moment are clear.”

I hope that the indigenous Aboriginal People's are included in Australia's BLM thoughts as well.

Let’s just hope they don’t spread COVIDー19 and kill more people

So blacks including Aussie whites are discriminating Asian? PC, Antify, Leftist

The headline makes it sound like Australia banned BLM protests specifically from happenning instead of gatherings in general because of the CoVid epidemic

They are humans

bull. bail reform, liberal sentencing have left violent criminals on the steet, blame politicians not police. Report on George Floyd’s violent criminal history, pointing a gun at a pregnant black womans belly during a home invasion!

God bless! I know you would tell me the truth what is the vaccine to do with me ? What’s expected from as per roles and what is there basically to discuss with the decision makers cause as we are now I won’t trust no one as they tend to keep me in the dark

Medical experts advised against large gatherings but it's important Australians jump on the US bandwagon.

Somehow American politics influences Australia lives! Idiots.

It’s amazing how small the world has become, and how technology has brought us together.

Some media news don't say the true like CNN

It does not change black lives a bit
