Thousands of people are in Selma this weekend to attend the annual Bridge Crossing Jubilee and commemorate the 59th anniversary of Bloody Sunday. The Jubilee Street Festival started downtown at 11am this morning on Water Avenue at the Foot of the Edmund Pettus Bridge.
Selma residents and visitors walked around and shopped at dozens of vendor and food booths while listening to performances by Sly, Slick and Wicked, Mr. Smoke, and other music groups. The Bridge Crossing Jubilee is the largest annual civil rights gathering in the nation. There was also a parade this morning and as well as a Battle of the Bands.
