One of Funk’s more recent contest comics “Meta” was about an artist who drops his pencil into his comic and then must go into the comic to battle the characters he created. “As soon as one resonates with Jason, you can just see the lightbulb go off in his head,” Duncan said. “He’s just really anxious to get off the call so he can run upstairs and start drawing. And usually, within an hour, I’ve got pages in my inbox waiting for me of just some really hilarious, glorious comics.”Plus, the art is a unique style Duncan and Funk created together.
“So yes, I’m happy , but I’m still worried, I’m his mom and am always going to be worried,” Julie Funk said. “That’s why is so beautiful, it sums up the emotional roller coaster that I’m on every day…the victories and the challenges.”
