Jennifer Aniston vs. Tim Cook: See how the pay of Hollywood celebs and sports stars compares with CEOs

Halfway through this season of “American Idol,” Katy Perry hit a milestone. That’s when her earnings as a judge on the ABC show surpassed what most chief executives in the S&P 500 made all of last year.

The Wall Street Journal this week released its annual analysis of CEO pay, which hit another post-recession record in 2018. But almost all of them are still looking up at radio host Howard Stern and basketball star Steph Curry.

Entertainers and sports stars need talent to get their positions and need success to keep them. CEOs need connections--and only connections--to get their positions, keep their positions whether they succeed or fail, and get raises for failure. Performers vs. parasites.

Jennifer Aniston Is she still famous?

Comparison should be on the basis of their performance and in peer groups, not outside their group. Y Hollywood celebs and sports star compa

I don't know that the general public is responsible for CEO pay but I definitely blame us for how much athletes and celebrities get paid. As prices for entertainment go up we continue to pay those prices like sheeple instead of saving and investing our money.

Pass

Wrong metric.

Cramer Remix: Tariffs could hurt earnings, but for some CEOs, it's worth itJim Cramer reveals how some CEOs are willing to take the tariff pain because they're fed up with China's trade practices. 😂 Nonsense. Example: jpmorgan's CEO says he agrees with Trump admin on IP & other initiatives while at same time leading IPO issues getting US money for Chinese companies to productize IP. His goal is to become big in China because it's the only place for substantial growth Nobody even knows what the Chinese agreed to that they no longer want to sign on.

Big Companies Pay CEOs for Good Performance—and BadMedian pay for CEOs of the biggest U.S. companies rose to $12.4 million— a post-recession record—even as performance fell to a new low, with a stock-market return of minus 5.8%. Why would a stock holder allow irresponsible compensation at that level. It shows incompetence, short term thinking and complete disregard to everyone working there to make that corp profitable. Executive pay fraud is the industry standard. It's a rigged game and everyone knows it. Loyalty? Blue. Compared to red of bravery and white of integrity? That who stands in that storm for you...

Abigail Disney took her criticism of the pay gap between CEOs and workers to Capitol Hill, telling lawmakers that the country needs to rethink the system Sounds like she needs to look into the facts before getting up on her soapbox lol. This woman sits on a mountain of money she had no hand in making, and still collects as her stock grows. It’s a good thing we’re not a socialist country. 👍
