Thieves Use Children in Shoplifting Crime

SHEFFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio - Sheffield Village police are searching for a group of thieves caught on surveillance cameras stealing more than a thousand dollars worth of merchandise from Burlington.

“Being a parent myself it’s kind of weird,” said Lieutenant Aaron Bober with the Sheffield Village Police Department. “I could never see putting my kid in danger like that to shoplift or to commit any type of crime.” “When I worked the road before I was a detective we found drugs in car seats and strollers and stuff like that and it’s just career criminals, they think police aren’t gonna look in those places or they’ll use, in this case, they’ll use their kids as decoys or to assist in this case,” said Lt. Bober.
