Companies that boosted their dividends last week: Barron's

Honeywell International and Starbucks were among the large U.S. companies that announced dividend increases this week in a light stretch for such actions.

Industrial conglomerate Honeywell plans to boost its annual dividend by about 5% to $3.92 a share from $3.72.The stock, which yields 1.7%, has returned about 1%, dividends included, this year as of Sept. 30, versus around 16% for the S&P 500 index. The board of directors of Starbucks declared a quarterly dividend of 49 cents a share, up from 45 cents, for a 9% hike. The annual dividend will be $1.96 a share.CenterPoint Energy , a utility holding company based in Houston, is planning to boost its quarterly disbursement by a penny to 17 cents a share.
