The moon looked particularly large in the sky, a.k.a. took on supermoon status, this past spring. The first moon of May, also known as the"Flower Moon," occurs on May 7 and 8: Thursday morning and Thursday evening through to Friday morning. It's also a"supermoon," according to NASA. It'll look its biggest during moon rise or moon set.
The real treat comes this October. It's the only month of the year to have two full moons, ultimately making the second full moon of the"blue" variety. And what's even rarer? October's blue moon will take place on Halloween. According to meteorologist Brian Lada,"After the blue moon on Oct. 31, 2020, trick-or-treaters will need to wait until 2039 to see the next blue moon on Halloween." This is definitely an event you don't want to miss.
