The Woodlands to add 4 trolley stops as it continues to assess public transit plans

The stop for The Woodlands Town Center Trolley along restaurant row in Hughes Landing is seen, Friday, May 19, 2023, in The Woodlands. The Woodlands is constructing four new permanent trolley stops and remodeling five more after conducting a comprehensive needs assessment on its trolley system.

The board also approved $4,306,201 from the Federal Transit Administration's The Woodlands-Conroe Urbanized Area funding, which will pay for most of this project. Trolley ridership has fully recovered from a pandemic dip, township chief operations officer Chris Nunes said, while Woodlands Express ridership remains below 2019 levels.with about 50,000 riders per month. Nunes said flexible work schedules has created new demand times and made riders' schedules harder to track.
