SNL's Kenan Thompson will host the 2020 White House Correspondents' Dinner

it was "personally offensive"), but by the White House Correspondents' Association itself. “Last night’s program was meant to offer a unifying message about our common commitment to a vigorous and free press,” Margaret Talev, the then-president of the WHCA, said in a statement. “Unfortunately, the entertainer’s monologue was not in the spirit of that mission.”

With Wolf's jokes and the tepid, uneasy response from the media establishment calling into question the very existence of the White House Correspondents' Dinner , last year's evening was hosted by. "So-called comedian Michelle Wolf bombed so badly last year at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner that this year, for the first time in decades, they will have an author instead of a comedian," Trump wrote of the decision.

And while Chernow was decidedly more muted than his predecessor, he did find room to ding Trump and call for the return of satirists and comedians to the dinner's stage. “There has been some squawking from comedians,”last year during the dinner. “I thought they’d have a little sense of humor about my selection. After all, they are comedians. But we need them now more than ever.

That’s how it always goes down. No one wanted this gig! No one! Don Rickles died just so you wouldn’t ask him to do this gig.
